295/S, 340/S

The /S models were limited build performance machines, many of which were used for racing purposes.

295/S

Model Year 1974
TYPE CODE: JDSOC
Serial # Range: 20,001 - 30,000
Manufacture Dates: November to December 1973
Number Produced:
Roughly 1000
Engine: Kioritz KEC-295RS/2
MSRP: N/A
Specifications: 295/S
Notes: Used the same mid-mount engine chassis as the JDX & 00 series.  It offered a choice of suspensions: bogie/solid rubber track, slide/cleated track, or slide/solid rubber track, which was not used on any other model.  It came with aluminum skis, and a 2 gallon fuel tank mounted where the glove box normally was.  The standard 5 gallon front tank could also be used.  This was the first Deere to use Mikuni carbs, and a CDI ignition.  The aluminum bumper was similar to the one used on the 300/JDX4.  The windshield was the same style as the 00/JDX, but shortened.  The handles & switches were a different style from the rest, borrowed from Arctic Cat.  The rear grab handles were also borrowed from Cat.  The snow flap was cut wider, with no leaping Deere logo.
